March Reads x4: from Fantasy to YA

We are nearing the second to last week in March! This month is always a tough one, as I have said before, but we have FINALLY reached springtime! 21 of 120 novels have been read so far! I have five fantastic reads to review, so let's get on with it!

First up for review is The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves:

Now, before I begin, I have to say how fast I was able to absorb this read. I think it took me a couple of hours to finish this, because WOW! Graves wrote an incredible novel with characters that are fully developed and had me rooting for them until the very end.

Annika Rose, the main character, feels the most comfortable being alone. When put in social situations, her thoughts immediately drift to ways she could potentially mess it up. In her final year at college, Annika meets Jonathan Hoffman who eventually becomes her boyfriend and one of the very few that seems to understand her. Although they broke up ten years ago, the two meets at a grocery store and feelings of old love come back to the forefront.

Tracy Garvis Graves is the author of eight outstanding novels, with On the Island spending 9 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Graves writes contemporary fiction and turns each novel into a masterpiece. Go give this one a read! 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Second up for review is The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker:

Virginia Boecker creates a world where witchcraft is deemed illegal, any and all who practice it must burn at the stake. Elizabeth Grey is one of the top witch hunters who will stop at nothing to bring justice until she is accused of being a witch herself.

Elizabeth must now put her trust in the most wanted wizard, Nicholas Perevril. She must face dark secrets and hidden truths, putting her loyalty to the test. It is here she will meet those she never expected to befriend.

Boecker's most awarded novel is An Assassins Guide to Love & Treason but before she was an author, she worked in public relations and then delved into technology. She is a person of many talents and has created a fantasy world I would not mind spending time in. 4.3 out of 5 stars.

Third up for review is The King Slayer by Virginia Boecker:

Sequel to The Witch Hunter, this novel continues Elizabeth Grey's story. She must face the man she once thought highly of and held major respect for. Elizabeth and the others must face Lord Blackwell in war, the usurper king.

I was extremely excited to read this, especially after the ending to the first novel. It is without question that this is my favorite read of the two because we get to see the change in each character as they are forced to ready for war.

Boecker is wickedly talented, and her books have offered a different interpretation of witchcraft being illegal. And in a medieval time period? Even better! 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Fourth book up for review is Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah:

For sisters Meredith and Nina Whitson, they are two polar opposites. One went on to pursue her dreams of becoming a photojournalist while the other stayed behind to raise a family and take care of the apple orchard. As their father falls ills, he makes the girls promise that the Russian fairytale is told once more and to the full end.

In this, they learn the truth about their mother, Anya, and her life in war-torn Leningrad. Nearly five decades ago, the two sisters learn of a harrowing secret that will change their lives forever.

Kristin Hannah, the author of over twenty novels, was once a lawyer before turning to write. She is well known for The Nightingale, Firefly Lane, and Night Road. Her work is real and thought-provoking, and this novel was just that. 4 out of 5 stars.

I hope one of these novels pique your interest! I have two more reads for March, be on the lookout for the next review!

Until next time,
